The requirements

TRS Group were approached for help with a high-profile rejuvenation programme along Weston-super-Mare’s seafront.

A dry-stone arch measuring 8m x 14m had been commissioned, and supporting scaffolding was required to keep the heavy-duty structural members in place whilst the permanent arch was completed.

The most challenging aspect of the project was the extraction of the required falsework once construction was complete. This involved sliding the entire temporary structure across transfer beams using high-capacity Tirfors, requiring careful planning and engineering to ensure the process could be carried out safely and efficiently.

Our solution

TRS Group designed and installed a bespoke falsework and support scaffold solution capable of safely supporting the arch structure throughout construction.

The temporary works were developed with the removal methodology in mind from the outset, enabling the falsework to be extracted by sliding the structure along transfer beams using high-capacity Tirfors. This approach allowed the temporary works to be removed safely and efficiently while supporting the successful completion of a landmark seafront regeneration project.
